On December 7, 2019, students from across the state will come to Mizzou to audition for All-State Orchestra. The All-State Orchestra performs at the Missouri Music Educators Association In-Service and Clinic (we commonly refer to it as MMEA) in late January. If you are interested in auditioning for this ensemble, please talk to Dr. Thierbach or Mrs. Brueggemann immediately so that we can discuss it with you. Below are the excerpts for each instrument. All metronome markings and bowings are required to be followed.
Please note that at this exact moment in time (August 5, 2019), we do not have final approval for this trip yet, but we are hopeful. Pending approval, the trip will occur from March 13-March 18. Students will not miss any school for this trip. Please read through the attached letter for the information that we have at this moment. Once we hear about approval, we will provide more detailed information as we know it.
Florida Trip Letter
Though Dr. Thierbach and Mrs. Brueggemann have not finalized the path we are going with testing, members of the high school orchestra should anticipate a playing test of some sort each month. This will follow a similar format as the middle school used last year, where students will take a "pre-test" to determine their starting point for testing and will have to pass a certain number of levels as we approach the end of the year. We have found great success with this at the middle school and find that the students in the middle school improved greatly through the process. We will have more information to you in the first few weeks of school.
We are going to continue our same process of setting students up for success in Solo/Ensembles. If you are interested in participating in Solo/Ensemble Festival (this year it is on April 3), please talk to Dr. Thierbach or Mrs. Brueggemann as soon as possible. Your syllabus will outline important information about eligibility through MSHSAA. We would love to have music finalized for all interested students by mid-fall.
We are using the same Google Classroom as last year, so if you joined the class last year, you should still be listed. Please double check your Classroom to see if you're still a member. Incoming Freshman will need to join the class. Our class code is: q0fm45s. You can also follow the link below to take you to the class. Make sure you are logged in with your school e-mail address.
Plan to attend our Parent Meeting on August 22 in the Middle School Band/Orchestra room! 5th grade parents are invited to come at 6:30 p.m. to get extra information about how the program works. A second "session" will begin at 7:00 p.m. to review dates, etc, as in years past. 5th and 6th grade parents will have the opportunity to fill out the Bus Transfer form for After School Orchestra that evening to be ready for your child to start being transported to WMS.
We recommend you park in the big lot (Nix Parking Lot) behind the middle school that is shared with the high school. Signs will be posted to guide you to the room!
Don't forget to sign up to chaperone the Pre-teen dances! We need every slot filled by the Friday before the dance in order to hold them each month. Go to the Fundraiser tab and click on the date you are planning to chaperone.
